Pink flamingos aren't a common sight on the Gulf Coast, but a man assessing damage from Hurricane Gustav caught a pair of the birds wading near Long Beach, Mississippi. Scott Gordon, shellfish bureau director for the Mississipi Department of Marine Resources, sent News 5 video he shot Last Tuesday. The flamingos get their unique pink coloring from the beta carotene in their diet, much of which comes from shrimp and bacteria.
