Saturday was soggy and sloppy for Bunny and Bobbie Jernigan. Their house on Collins Mill Creek in Milton was flooded during Saturday's heavy rains. Mother Nature was certainly to blame, but a temporary dam built to hold back Locklind Lake broke, sending mountains of water down the already saturated creek.
"All of a sudden, a wall of water with debris came rushing down the creek," says Bobbie Jernigan. "There were boats in the water, wood, debris all kinds of things. It got in our house in five minutes."
"We've got a mess," says Bunny Jernigan. "We've got a lot of clean-up to do. We have flood insurance so we'll be contacting FEMA soon."
The temporary, dam, made of dirt and rock, was put up to hold back water while work crews build a new structure.
The Jernigan's say it'll cost them thousands of dollars to clean up the mess.
