Former News 5 Player Of The Year, Clint Moseley, will get the start at quarterback for Auburn on Saturday.
But Moseley's first start will be anything but easy. Auburn plays No 1. LSU in Baton Rouge. (You can watch the game at 2:30 p.m. on WKRG.)
Moseley redshirted his freshman year and only played in one game last season. But his first pass did not come until the Tigers' 42-38 win over Utah State in Week 1. Moseley's biggest action in an Auburn uniform came last week against Florida. Moseley entered the game at halftime and threw for 90 yards on 4-of-7 passing.
"We've been struggling offensively the last couple of weeks," Coach Gene Chizik says. "I don't feel like that's a secret. I feel like we need a spark there. In the second half of the Florida game, Clint came in and gave us somewhat of a spark when we needed it. I think he's earned the opportunity for the right to start."
Moseley is a 6'4", 223 lbs. sophomore from Leroy. He was named Alabama's Mr. Football in 2008 after leading Leroy High School to it's third straight 2-A state championship. He was also named News 5's 2008 Player of the Year.
Chizik says Offenseive Coordinator Gus Malzahn will not limit the playbook because of the change under center.
"Number one, (Clint's) been around here a long time," Chiziki says. "Number two, he's followed right along with the game plan preparing as if he was going to be the starter."
As you might expect, Moseley is thrilled to finally get a chance to start.
"It was all surreal at first, especially because it's all been such a roller coaster for me," Moseley says. "To finally get what I've dreamed of getting, it's the best feeling."

More from Moseley
- "Playing quarterback, you have to think you're the best. I expected it the whole time, but that's because I'm a competitor."
- "I'm still learning. But I feel really good about where I'm at."
- He's going to give Barrett Trotter his space: "There's no way to downplay this, at the moment. I know how he feels."
- On the LSU defense: "They hardly have any weaknesses, if any. But I kind of wouldn't want it any other way."
- Last time Moseley started a game was the 2008 2A state title game: "It's not that big of an adjustment. Sulligent was a pretty fast...OK, maybe it's the best defense I'll probably ever face in my first start. But that's why you come to Auburn."
- Moseley's the 3rd straight new QB LSU will face: "I know they're probably going to come right for me. It couldn't get any better."
- Said he's happy to do it for Leroy, his home: "It's such a big deal to them. Not to say I was shafted by any means, but I was kind of looked at as the 'little school' guy."
