Five former Alabama football players inked free agent deals with NFL teams following the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
Quarterback John Parker Wilson signed with the Atlanta Falcons, defensive end Bobby Greenwood inked with the Kansas City Chiefs, guard Marlon Davis signed with the Cleveland Browns, tight end Nick Walker signed with the Minnesota Vikings and tight end Travis McCall inked with the Buffalo Bills.
Of the Crimson Tide’s nine-player senior class in 2008, six were either selected in the NFL Draft or signed to an NFL free-agent contract.
Wilson (Hoover, Ala.) finished his career as the most prolific quarterback in school history. He is one of just eight players in school history to twice be named a team captain (2007 & 2008). Wilson finished as the school’s all-time leader in pass completions (665), passing yards (7,924), attempts (1,175), total plays (1,413), passing touchdowns (47) and total yards (8,099). He started his final 40 games under center for the Tide.
Greenwood (Prattville, Ala.) played in 51 career games, which is the second-most in school history. He made 22 career starts and logged 102 total tackles with 22 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. Following the 2008 season that saw him lead the team with five sacks, Greenwood was selected as the team’s Outstanding Senior Scholar.
Davis (Columbus, Ga.) started 26 games during his Crimson Tide career, including 13 as a senior in 2008 at right guard. He helped the Crimson Tide average 184.6 yards per game rushing, which ranked third in the SEC while clearing the way for Doak Walker Award semifinalist Glen Coffee, who was taken in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers.
Walker (Brundidge, Ala.) was a three-year starter at tight end and played in all 52 games in his UA career, which equaled the school record. Walker made 37 career starts and hauled in 67 career catches for 687 yards and five touchdowns. He had 32 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns as a senior in 2008.
McCall (Prattville, Ala.) played in all 52 games in his UA career, which is tied for the most in school history. He logged 32-career starts at tight end and made 24-career catches for 224 yards while averaging 9.3 yards per catch.
