The state high school football
championships are moving out of Birmingham's Legion Field.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association's Central Board of
Control approved a six-year deal Wednesday to move the Super 6
title games to Tuscaloosa and Auburn. The basketball championships
will remain in Birmingham.
The cities of Tuscaloosa, Auburn and Birmingham submitted
proposals in February to host the games.
AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said details of the
contracts are still being worked out.
The football games will rotate between Bryant-Denny Stadium in
Tuscaloosa and Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn through 2014, starting
next season.
The Super 6 Championships have been held at Legion Field since
1996.
