Todd McInnis struck out seven and pitched a one-hitter over seven innings today to pick up his first win as Southern Miss beat South Alabama 6-and-1. McInnis retired ten of the last eleven batters he faced, including nine straight, for the Golden Eagles (4-and-0). Brian Dozier and Bailey Hartel had two hits each and Trey Sutton batted in two runs. Brandon Sage (0-and-1) picked up the loss for the Jaguars (2-and-2) after giving up four runs over five innings on five hits. He walked three and struck out one. The teams were tied at 1-and-1 until Southern Miss put together a five-run sixth inning that featured three bunts.
