Volunteers Get Muddy To Help The Coast

Volunteers Get Muddy To Help The Coast

Volunteers were ready to get dirty to help restore coastal Alabama on Saturday.

Today was the big reef building project for the 100-1000 Restore Coastal Alabama project. Hundreds of volunteers packed Helen Wood Park for the effort this morning.

They were building ¼ mile of oyster reef in muddy water Saturday. It was tough to move around and very messy. I fell once during shooting, luckily my pride was damaged and not my camera.

Workers didn’t get as far as they’d like today. Organizers are asking for more volunteers to help finish the job Sunday. That starts at 8 am Sunday.
