On July 1st, Pleasure Island will become "Parrothead Island!" Jimmy Buffett will perform on the main public beach in Gulf Shores. In an effort to revive the life-less economy caused by the Gulf oil disaster, the Hangout invited Buffett to Pleasure Island. Buffett, who has ties to the Alabama Coast, graciously accepted. And there's more good news...the concert is free.
"Rather than laying over and waiting for claim checks, as a community we stand up and say what can we do for ourselves," says Shaul Zislin with the Hangout. "We want to make sure people still come down here and have a vacation of their lives."
35,000 free tickets will be offered by Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or call 1.866.448.7849) beginning Wednesday (tomorrow) at 10:00 a.m. There's a four-ticket limit. If you can't make the July 1st concert, CMT and XM Satellite Radio will broadcast the performance live. Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown will also perform.
