Waters Reopen To Shrimping

Waters from Dauphin Island to Gulf Shores will reopen to shrimping on Friday morning. That includes Mobile Bay and Wolf Bay.

Pursuant to Section 9-12-46, Code of Alabama as stated by Rule 220-3-.01 the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Marine Resources Division announces that as of 6:00 am, Friday, July 23, 2010 the following waters will open to shrimping:

• Waters of Mobile Bay north of a line that extends east from Fort Gaines towards Fort Morgan where it intersects the Mobile Ship Channel (MSC), then runs north along the eastern edge of MSC to the charted position of MSC #22, then east to Little Point Clear.

• All Waters of Little Lagoon. • Waters of Wolf Bay, Bay la Launch, and Arnica Bay west of a line that extends from Bear Point to Ross Point.

Fishermen should contact Alabama Marine Resources Division 251-861-2882 or 251-968-7576 if they suspect any odor or crude oil contamination of their catch. After hours call 251-476-1256.

Fishermen are reminded to maintain at least 65 feet away from oil booms.

Fishermen should be aware that state biologists will continue to sample in the areas to be opened. Should sampling indicate a change in the projected average size of 68 shrimp per pound, additional announcements will be provided to modify the original announcement.
