Hundreds Protest Bayou La Batre Takeover of VOO Program

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Christopher LaForce was the main spokesman for the group of fishermen and their families who gathered in the bayou tonight. Mr. LaForce was emphatic when he told the fishermen that he was satisfied with the way BP was overseeing the Vessels of Opportunity program. It appeared everyone in the crowd agreed. Mr. LaForce said fishermen need to be hired and he said they didn't need anyone stepping on our money before we get it. We attempted to contact Mayor Wright tonight but it was late and we were unsuccessful. He said earlier, he had been the job of protecting and cleaning up our waters and that's what he's going to do. He said, "my main objective is to clean up these waters before it reaches Mobile bay, our estuaries, our marsh grass and our oyster reefs. I want to look my baby in her eyes one day and let her know her poppa has done everything my power to make this work."
