Even with rain, local businesses are seeing more foot traffic this time of year thanks to the parades. Spot of Tea on Dauphin Street had a steady flow of people today, 1/29/10. The Mardi Gras season brings higher-than-normal crowds to Mobile's downtown. Workers here say they have about a 20% increase in business when parade season starts.

“Well, we give back to the community, we've remodeled in the last year and we are prepared for Mardi Gras this year,” says Ruby T. Moore with Spot of Tea. Dauphin Street downtown is generally packed with people in the hours before and after big parades. Most business owners hope this translates into better sales.
