Economy Doesn't Slow Hardcore Mardi Gras Fans

Some continue to spend a lot of money on Mardi Gras despite the recession

When you have three guys in Mardi Gras colored mullets you also have three guys who aren't too worried about their Mardi Gras spending habits.

“Because I love to party, it's a relief, you work all year long and here you forget about your problems,” says Chick Santana. He’s the leader of this motley crew in R-V City. R-V City is packed again this year with campers and partiers even though the price of a parking spot has exploded. For the Mardi Gras revelers who are 'all in' this is something they plan for all year and they're not going to let something like the economy slow them down

“Because you ain't going to do nothing but live and die right, you can't take it with you, but I’m going to take mine with me,” says Chick’s pal Arthur Weaver. Partiers like Steve Marston are spending hundreds of dollars. It’s almost too much in his mind, but it's worth it to keep on living.

“This spot here went up 100 bucks, the dues in the organizations went up to cover the shortfall from money coming out to money coming in you know, membership has to make that up,” says Marston.
