Abandoned Boom Washes Ashore

Abandoned Boom Washes Ashore

More than four months later, crews continue to pull boom from the waters off our coast. But you'd be surprised where we found some of it today.

No oil was spotted during the overflight in the News 5 WInd Creek Chopper Monday morning, but our crews did spot plenty of runaway boom.

The boom in the video is located about five miles west of Bayou La Batre.

Strings of boom have been cut loose and beached in local wetlands. They more than likely ended up here due to recent storms.

Vessels of Opportunity would have to look really close to find this boom. It's hard to spot unless youre flying over it.
