Alabama Attorney General Troy King sent a letter to Kenneth Feinberg yesterday saying he is not pleased with the BP claims process and the way Feinberg is heading up the 20 billion dollar compensation fund. In his letter the attorney general says he shares the same concerns as Mississippi and Louisiana's attorney general.
The letter says “I believe the current approach to the claims process is symptomatic of the overall strategy adopted by BP and the other responsible parties with respect to their oil disaster and their unwillingness to fairly and adequately compensate the states and their citizens for the catastrophic damage the oil companies have caused."
I asked Feinberg about the letter today in Dauphin Island. Feinberg said he didn’t want to get into criticism of the attorney general but defended his process.
“I know that Governor Riley has been solidly behind what I'm trying to accomplish here and I've received some constructive criticism from the attorney general, I've dealt with it as best I can.”
