Naval Air Station Pensacola is the only military base with a National Cemetery in the continental United States. I’m talking about Barrancas National Cemetery. More than 37,000 veterans and other eligible people are buried here. The cemetery is run by the US department of Veterans Affairs. Some of the gravestones pre-date the Civil War. The first internment was in 1829. This is just one small part of our Hometown Tour. You can see what NAS Pensacola is all about tonight at 6pm.
