An estimated 2 million pounds of trash is cleaned up after Mobile's Mardi Gras season and much of that junk piled up on Fat Tuesday.
After the street sweepers rolled down the road, the clean up crews starting digging into the rest. From burned couches to human waste, they have their hands full.
Most of the actual trash has been taken away but the power washing will go on for weeks. Clayton Rutledge with the Downtown Mobile Alliance says it's a nasty job but someone has to do it." What kind of stuff do we see? A burned couch! We found a lot of feces human and horse, vomit and blood. We do a lot of power washing to get all the nastiness from Mardi Gras that's left behind gone."
The Downtown Mobile Alliance works with Mobile's Parks Department and Public Works to make sure the Mardi Gras mess is cleaned up.
