Business is about to pick up at many of the Mardi Gras specialty stores. Owners say it's been steady so far this year, but are preparing to get cleaned out as people come to buy their masks, beads and moon pies.
This year they say people are coming in looking for anything that blinks, flashes or shines.
“They're always looking for something new that's lighted, so we've got lighted boomerangs, Frisbees, any kind of lighted necklaces, the lighted rings,” said Dwain Manigold, owner of Mardi Gras Warehouse.
Mardi Gras season officially kicks off in Mobile Friday with the Conde Cavalier's Parade.
