Mardi Gras Must-Haves

We asked our News 5 Facebook fans for Fat Tuesday survival tips and the tips rolled in. One of the most suggested tips - bring your own roll of toilet paper. Well, I met some revelers that actually made good on that tip.

"I got napkins, I got toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and believe it or not the one and only trick that nobody thought of, sanitizer spray for the seat. I got three little girls and they don't know how to hover, so I brought it for them," says James Segal of Mobile.

I found several other people toting tissue. "Definitely, bring your own toilet paper, and you have to hover over the toilets, don't sit on them," laughs Heather Sims.

Proof that one can never be too prepared. "Just to be safe. I just bring them just in case," laughs man.

But of course, tissue isn't the only pointer for parade survival 101. "Bring plenty of food, plenty of drinks, tissue, germ x, paper towels and plates," says one parade-goer.

"Be careful, there is a lot of crazy people, a lot of drunk people keep that extra eye rotating," says Segal.

The bare basics for any parade goer looking to let the good times roll.

Staying Hot

The unofficial “start to summer” continues to be a hot one this Memorial Day weekend. Bright sunshine will warm temperatures into the low and middle 90s during the afternoon. There’s only a 10% chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm, so 9 out of 10 of us stay dry.
