Prichard Mayor gives State of the City

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The city of Prichard has had its share of problems, but the mayor says a bright future is ahead.

Mayor Ron Davis gave his State of the City address Tuesday morning. He says for the first time since he took office the city is in the black.

It’s a big step for a city that's declared bankruptcy and has had trouble paying retired employees.

“We had over a million dollars that was owed out when I came in trying to pay the bills. And today we got $12,000 in the bank. That's a positive thing,” said Mayor Davis.

Mayor Davis says he also wants to be tougher on crime this year and plans to hire 15 new police officers by the end of the year.
