Deneen Balistere got a call early Thursday evening. "They warned me what it was going to be like. It's the worst I've ever seen."
For 20 years she has worked with animals. Nothing could prepare her for what she saw at Purple Hearted Puppies Animal Rescue. She and a handful of volunteers began feeding, watering and caring for almost 200 animals.
"We need food, blankets, help, donations anything to save these dogs," she says.
Authorities are asking for volunteers to help with the surviving animals and anyone who can help by adopting or providing foster homes.
