A heartbreaking and gruesome story out of Summerdale...dozens of dogs and cats dead, many more near starvation.
Police got a tip about about the abandonded animals and rushed to the Purple Hearted Puppies kennel in Summerdale. The mission- save as many of the starving dogs and cats as possible.
Inside the house, police found several puppies who hadn't eat and had water in more than a week.
The owners skipped town more than 10 days ago...leaving the animals to fend for themselves.
Outside in a shed, police scramble to save the lives of dozens of starving cats. Officers poured food into the cages as fast as they could.
In a kennel behind the house- the nightmare got worse.
Dozens of dead dogs- animals that starved to death.
Several cages had multiple dogs inside- and in a horrifying act of survival, some of the dogs had eaten each other.
Now...animal rescue crews and police need your help. There are dozens of dogs and cats that need loving homes. Police are asking animal-lovers interested in helping to be at the Purpled Hearted Puppies Kennel in Summerdale Friday morning between 8 and 9 am.
The facility is located on County Road 36 near the intersection of County Road 83. 21118 County Road 36.
If you'd like to adopt one of these precious animals...please do so. For people wanting to help but unable to take in a dog or a cat, police are asking for pet food donations, blankets, kennels- any kind of pet supplies.
