Making High School Graduation Mandatory

President Obama is asking states to make graduating from high school legally mandatory.

In President Obama's State of the Union Address Tuesday night, he asked states to make it legally mandatory for high school students to either graduate or stay in school until their 18.

20 states already require students to either earn their diploma or stay enrolled until their 18th birthday.

Alabama is NOT one of them. Students here can drop out at the age of 17.

We talked to several educators, students and parents about President Obama's proposal.

Some believe it's a good idea...others say it's another sign of government control.
