No New Trial For Convicted Murderer, David Coombs

A Baldwin County judge has denied a request to a convicted murderer for a new trial.

David Coombs attorney had argued says security cameras inside the Baldwin County Courthouse could have illegally recorded private conversations with his client.

Last October, a jury found Coombs guilty of capital murder in the robbery and death of William Grunden.

Baldwin County District Attorney Hallie Dixon says the motion for a new trial is nothing more than the defendant's latest attempt to quote: "Avoid justice by casting baseless accusations against law enforcement and citizens."

The FBI and the U-S Attorney's Office are investigating whether the security cameras violated due process and attorney-client rights.
