A man claiming to be the victim's older brother tells News 5 his brother just underwent surgey at USA Medical Center in Mobile.
The man says the blast may leave his brother blind in one eye. He also says doctors may have to amputate one of his brother's hands.
The victim was trying to salvage scrap metal when the explosion occurred, according to his brother.

The ATF is not expected to detonate the ammo until around 3:30 a.m.

Military officials are on their way to an area of Gulfport, after live ammunition was found at a home there.
Gulfport police tell News 5 homes in the area of Three Rivers and South Swan Road are being evacuated. They are also using reverse 911 to call homes in the area to alert them of the situation.
Police say the evacuations are a precaution, as the ATF plans to detonate the ammunition later tonight.
Officials at the scene say one person was taken to a hospital with injuries when he apparently cut into a anti-tank shell and it exploded.
It's not clear yet where the man acquired the ammunition and his name has not been released.
