Pleasure Island is packed with snowbirds!
For the next three months, thousands of retirees from the Northeast and the Midwest will call the Gulf Coast home.
They've come to Baldwin County from Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and New England to escape the snow and the ice back home.
The campground at Gulf State Park is at 93 percent occupancy- and will stay that way until early April.
But many snowbirds are turning their winter getaways into "permanent" vacations.
Realtors say snowbirds are falling in love with the beach and are buying houses and condos.
Agents say the retirees are taking advantage of low interest rates and unbelievable deals- pumping new life into a housing market still recovering from the recession.
