Police say a woman went to the bathroom in the back of a patrol car and then smeared it all over. Investigators say it all started Thursday morning when they got a call that a woman was standing on North Section Street screaming at passing cars.
The officers repeatedly asked the suspect, Tina Windham, to leave the roadway, but she refused, and her behavior became increasingly belligerent. The officers arrested Ms. Windham for disorderly conduct.
Arresting officers say Windham became violent to the point that the officers could not handcuff her hands behind her back, so they handcuffed her with her hands in front of her body. She kicked the officers several times, including kicks to the face, chest, arms, and groin areas as they were trying to place her into the patrol vehicle. Once they had Windham in the patrol car, they transported her to the Fairhope Municipal Jail.
While en-route, she lowered her pants and defecated in the rear seat of the patrol vehicle. Despite being handcuffed, she then started smearing the feces on interior surfaces of the car, including seats, headliner, windows, and doors. She apparently was also trying to force feces through a space between the headliner and prisoner transport cage into the front seat area to contaminate the officers.
Windham was booked for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on police officers, and criminal mischief. She has since been transferred to the Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette.
The patrol car had to be sent to a commercial business that specializes in decontamination in order to be sanitized.
