Woman Crashes Mercedes into Prichard Church

Investigators say a woman who had been drinking, hit St. James Major Catholic Church.  The incident happened at 1:20am Wednesday morning in Prichard.

Police Chief Jimmie Gardner tells News 5 Carolyn Renee Watts lost control of her 2008 Mercedes and ran over a statue and then hit the front of the church. She was taken to USA Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and will be charged with DUI when she is released. No on inside the church was injured.

Damage is estimated at the church at about $10,000.
