The IRS doled out fewer tax refunds last year -- and the ones they did give out were smaller.
Refund checks sent out in 2011 were down an average of 100-dollars from the year before -- or about three-percent. The agency delivered a total of 109-point-three-million dollars in refunds during the year. IRS officials say they are holding on to tens of millions of dollars in tax refunds that they haven't been able to deliver due to mailing address errors. Taxpayers who didn't get refunds they were expecting should use the "Where's My Refund" tool on the agency website.
