Escorted by an F-18 fighter jet, the F-35-B landed at Eglin Air Force Base Monday evening.

The F-35-B- the first Marine Corps version of the F-35 Lightning 2- was delivered from Ft. Worth, Texas, where it was built at Lockheed Martin under contract with the U-S military.

The joint strike fighter will strenghten our military's aircraft dominance. The jet has the ability to take off and land vertically- and will provide better air support in conditions and locations inaccessible to traditional fighters.

About 60 F-35-B joint strike fighters will be stationed at Eglin. Pilots and ground crew support will train with them.
