Mobile, AL. (Jan. 7)---Three finalists emerged from a field of nearly 80 hopeful singers Saturday at the ninth annual Senior Bowl Superstar competition held at the Mobile Civic Center Theatre.   The competition to determine the national anthem singer prior to the 2012 Senior Bowl has now entered the final stages, with the winner to be chosen by Senior Bowl fans.

Breauna Jackson, an 18-year old senior at Alma Bryant High School in Irvington, Jessica Strenth, a 15-year old freshman at Satsuma High School, and the group “Foresight” of Hurley, Mississippi all advanced to the final round of the competition after edging out a field of 78 performers today.  “Foresight” is made up of 19-year old Breyln Nelson and brothers Ashton (17) and Brandon (19) Waltman.

The ninth annual Senior Bowl Superstar will once again award the winner the unique opportunity to sing the national anthem at the January 28th Senior Bowl, as well as on the WKRG-TV morning show.

“It was another great turnout and tough competition but we are excited about these three finalists,” Senior Bowl Sales and Marketing Director Chris Morgan said.  “Each year we are amazed by the amount of talented singers in this area and this year was no different.”

The three finalists will perform the national anthem live on the WKRG-TV 6:00 am morning show next week.  Strenth will perform live on Tuesday, Jan. 10th, “Foresight” on Wednesday, Jan. 11th and Jackson on Thursday, Jan. 12th.

On Friday, January 13th, all three finalists’ performances will be re-aired during the WKRG-TV 6:00 am morning show.

The winner of the competition will be selected by viewers who cast their votes on the Senior Bowl website at www.seniorbowl.com or the WKRG-TV website at www.wkrg.com.  Voting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 am on Friday, January 13th and end at 11:59 pm on Sunday, January 15th.

The Superstar winner will be announced live on the WKRG-TV morning show on Monday, January 16th.

Last year, nearly 182,000 online votes were cast during the three days of Superstar voting.  Rebecca Womack, a student at Spanish Fort High School, won the competition.
