This is a day Barbara Good has waited for. A final tribute to her husband of 35 years who passed away almost three months ago. "I come over here about every day and sometimes in the afternoon." She comes to deal with her grief but also out of concern. "They might tear up my husband or his parents or his grandparents grave." The cemetery has been the target of vandals over the years. More so, in recent weeks. Headstones smashed and damaged, graves desecrated. "The dead can't even enjoy peace," says Good. This is a place where history is written in stone. Some of the head stones dating back to the early to mid-1800's. Volunteers hope surveillance cameras will help protect and preserve that history. "It seems like it has become worse recently." Mickey Boykin is one of the volunteers and says the museum and cemetery are an important part of Daphne that needs to be protected. "So many of Daphne's citizens are buried here. Not just the cemetery but all sorts of artifacts and history in the museum and it would just be lost history." Barbara Good hopes she will soon be able to come here without fear of what she might find.
