Police have identified a third suspect in the murder of a well known barber and minister.
During a preliminary hearing for two suspects charged with the murder of Rev. Sam Richardson, Sergeant Walter Knight of the Prichard Police Department identified Joshua Scott as a third person who may have also been present during the murder and robbery.
Knight told WKRG that police are actively searching for Scott, who does not have a prior criminal record.
The investigator also revealed Rev. Richadson was shot twice, once in his head and once in his back, during the Nov. 22 murder at his barber shop at the intersection of Main and Garrison Streets in Prichard.
Police have not found the gun used in the shooting. Police have also not been able to find Rev. Richardson's wallet, keys and cell phone which they believe were stolen during the robbery.
Broderick Brown, 19, and Andrew Amison, 17, were arrested on December 8 and charged with murder and robbery.
In a recorded statement to police, Amison confessed to being at Rev. Richardson's barber shop during the robbery and murder but denied shooting the barber, according to police.
District Judge Michael McMaken sent the case to a Grand Jury.
