Construction of Veterans Cemetery Ahead of Schedule

»  Comments | Post a Comment

One of the people who is responsible for getting a state-run veterans cemetery to South Alabama says construction is ahead of schedule.

Dr. Barry Booth donated some of the land, and helped smooth the way for Alabama's only state-run veterans cemetery in Spanish Fort.

The first phase is being built on about 23 acres at the site along Highway 225, next to the historic Saluda Hill Cemetery.  When completed the cemetery will cover about 100 acres.  The first phase will include room for the final resting places of about 2800 military veterans.
