Chief: Cop Killer Had Handcuff Key

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Police are giving new details about the death of Officer Steven Green. Green died on Friday at the hands of a suspect, Lawrence Wallace Jr, who he was transporting to the Mobile Metro Jail.

Mobile Police Chief Michael T. Williams says the investigation has revealed that Wallace had somehow concealed both a handcuff key and a 3-inch knife, despite being arrested and searched by police.

“Wallace stabbed the officer in the left side. There was a fight, there was a struggle and it appears that the officer was stabbed a second time,” said Williams.

Williams says the knife was discovered inside the Green's squad car, which Wallace stole to bust out of the jail. The handcuff key was found inside Wallace's shoe after he was killed by officers.
