Golden China Copper is building a $100-million facility near the Wilcox County/Clarke County line.
The new plant will employ nearly 300 people when construction is complete.
Jobs will include production workers and electricians.
Wilcox County has the highest unemployment rate in Alabama. The county is also the 15th poorest county in the country.
People living in Thomasville will also benefit from the new facility. Golden China Copper will be located just three miles north of city limits, across county lines.
