Beginning in November, city leaders in Foley will have bigger paychecks.
The city council voted to give themselves and the mayor pay raises.
Salaries for councilmembers will increase from 10 to 12-thousand dollars a year.
The mayor will see a five thousand dollar raise- taking home 30-grand annually.
All the positions are considered "part-time" positions.
City leaders say the minimal pay increase was affordable because Foley was in the "black" last year.
Officials tell News 5 the small raise puts them on par with other local cities the size of Foley.
But not everyone thinks it's a good time to increase government salaries. People we talked to say raises shouldn't be approved until the economy turns around.
