Colleen Moorer felt compelled to do something this morning after what she witnessed. "I could see the flames from my window. I kept hearing the sirens and I said that's close. I peeked out my bedroom window all I saw was flames, no smoke just flames." 10 year old Te'laysia Jackson and her sister 8 year old Te'sjhonna Sanford died in the fire that swept through their tiny house. "I didn't expect to see this that somebody had died." Jonnie Anderson is the girls aunt. She says their step-father tried to save them but the flames were too intense. "He went to bed last night checked on the girls and then the next thing he know he said fire was coming up and he went back there to check on the girls and he opened the door and it just blew him." The front room of the house is the girls room. The fire marshall says that's where the fire started and spread very quickly. Throughout the day, neighbors and strangers drifted by what was left of the wood frame home recalling fond memories of the sisters. "We were just at a birthday party not even a month ago and they were teaching me the latest dances," says cousin Leslie Wade. "We just had a good time. We just had a real good time." "They were very mannerable children and very respectful of elders. For something like this to happen is a real bad tragedy," says their aunt. One firefighter was slightly injured fighting the fire. The red cross is assisting the family with clothing and a temporary place to stay.
