Marine From Mississippi Dies in Afghanistan

The Defense Department says a Marine from Greenville, Miss., has died in Afghanistan.

In a news release Thursday, the Defense Department says Lance Cpl. Edward J. Dycus of Greenville, Miss., died Feb. 1 while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province in Afghanistan. He was 22.

The Defense Department says the incident is under investigation and has released no other details.

Dycus was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
