iPad2 Giveaway: Picking the Winner

Today is the day that we randomly selected the first winner of the News 5 and Wind Creek Casino and Hotel iPad2 giveaway. Although the winner will be announced Friday, we wanted to show you how the selection process works.

It begins by randomly picking a winner. I select the tab that says "pick random winner", then select "week 1", and save changes.

This prompts the computer to pull a name from the pool of almost 6,000 News 5 Facebook fans that have registered so far.

The first winner randomly drawn, is from McIntosh. I gave her a call. I was so nervous and excited, but after calling from both my office phone and my work cell phone there was no answer. Unfortunately, rules are rules, so back to the drawing board I went. I recalculated the computer and another winner was selected.

This time, the winner is from Satsuma, and I was so glad he picked up.

If you have registered for the contest, be sure to keep your phone close by on Thursdays for the next few weeks. We would hate for you to miss our call.
