Wednesday morning, a 45-year-old Saucier man was struck and killed while walking along Interstate 10 in Harrison County.
24 year old Sara Jane Koch of Pass Christian, MS has been arrested and charged with one count of Felony Driving Under the Influence causing death. Chief Payne said the arrest resulted from an investigation into a pedestrian walking west bound on I-10 in D’Iberville.
Just after 5am Wednesday morning, D’Iberville Police Officers responded to Interstate 10 at the 46 west bound mile marker within the city limits of D’Iberville, in reference to a single vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, 45 year old Donald Louis Sullivan of Saucier, MS.
Lieutenant Terry Hines said as Sullivan was walking along the right shoulder of the roadway when the vehicle driven by Koch veered off of the interstate and struck Sullivan. Lieutenant Hines said Sullivan was walking west to exit 44, Cedar Lake, to get a ride to work from a friend because his vehicle was broken down.
Lieutenant Hines said during the investigation it was determined Koch was driving impaired. Koch was arrested for Driving Under the Influence causing death and transported to the D’Iberville Police Department. Lieutenant Hines said Koch is incarcerated at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with a $500,000.00 bond set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
