Four police agencies (Loxley, Silverhill, Summerdale and Elberta) in Baldwin County are reporting an increase in home burglaries and theft. Some are blaming the crime increase on the weak economy.

In Summerdale, police have responded to four home break-ins this month...two within the last two days. Police Chief Eddie Ingram says the crooks are stealing electronics and jewelry.

Ingram says the burglars have stolen more than 20-thousand dollars worth of property and are offering a $500 cash reward for information leading to arrests in the cases.

The chief says the crooks are "fencing" the stolen loot for drug money.
