Police departments in Baldwin County are ready to enforce Alabama's immigration law.
Police officers admit the law, which requires them to verify immigration status during traffic stops, creates some challenges. But they don't see racial profiling or police harassment as a potential problem.
"If someone can produce proper documents, it shouldn't matter what they look like or who they are," says Lt. Doug Phillips with the Loxley Police Dept. "But if they're not able to provide some sort of identiy to themselves, we need to find out who that person is."
Fear of the immigration law has forced many Hispanic families in Baldwin County to leave and move to "safe haven" states like Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida. Some Hispanic families have moved back home to Mexico and Latin America.
A few Hispanic owned businesses in Robertsdale, Summerdale and Foley have already closed.
