The American Jobs Act would provide financial incentives for companies that create jobs or give employee raises. Additional tax credits would be given to business owners who hire long-term unemployed workers, including unemployed veterans and disabled veterans.
News 5 talked to several small business owners in Baldwin County about President Obama's job initiative. Many like some of the ideas in the plan, but also expressed concern the American Jobs Act would only be a "band-aid" repair...or short-term fix to the economic crisis.
Some economists believe Obama's 447 billion dollar plan will not pass Congress because the bill doesn't outline how it will be funded or where the money will come from.
