Ax Murder Suspect From Maryland Arrested In Bayou La Batre

A man wanted in Maryland for killing another man with an ax is being held at Mobile Metro Jail.

A joint task force of Mobile County Sheriff's deputies and US Marshals arrested Larry Eugene Horton, 37, at the Bayou Inn and Suites in Bayou La Batre Wednesday afternoon.

Horton is accused of killing Ryan Wesley Jackson, 18, at a home in Baltimore County, Maryland.

According to a press release from Baltimore County police, Jackson was reported missing by his girlfriend on October 14 after she had not heard from Jackson for two days.

On October 15, family members of the victim went to Horton's home to look for Jackson and discovered blood inside the house.  Homicide detectives then began their investigation.   Investigators discovered Jackson's body with "visible traumatic injuries" at another home in Baltimore.

Detectives in Maryland received information that Horton had fled to south Mobile County.  The Mobile County Sheriff's office and US Marshals were contacted and arrested Horton.

A man wanted for chopping up his friend with an ax is behind bars.

The Mobile County Sheriff's Office arrested Larry Horton Wednesday afternoon at the Bayou Inn and Suites in Bayou La Batre.

Horton is wanted for murder in Baltimore County, Maryland. Sheriff Sam Cochran says he understands it was a very gruesome crime and that the murder weapon is either a hatchet or an ax.

Horton is being held without bond.
