»  Comments | Post a Comment

A former Bayou La Batre police officer has been arrested on theft of property charges.

This morning, Jason Edwards was released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.

The Mobile County Sheriff's office says Edwards resigned in May because of an investigation into money discovered missing from the Bayou la Batre Police Department.

The case is being investigated by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.

Jason Edwards' former chief has retired.

Bayou La Batre Police Chief John Joyner's last day with the department was yesterday.

Joyner had been with the department for nearly 30 years, spending the last decade as Chief.
