Baldwin County High Speed Chase Caught On Camera

Summerdale Police Officer Terry Fent clocked a motorcycle heading southbound on Highway 59 at 80 miles per hour....an rapidly accelerating.

The chase happened around 10pm Monday night and finally ended after a 17 minute pursuit when the motorcyclist lost control of his bike on a rural backroad.

Robert Cellamare is in the hospital. When he's released, he'll be charged with driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and attempting to elude.

In Summerdale, police pursuits- and whether they should happen- are handled by the individual officer involved.

Police Chief Eddie Ingram tells News 5 the pursuit was done by the book and handled professionally.

Ingram says if the chase happened during rush hour or in bad weather, the pursuit probably would have been called off.
