Homeless Veteran Gets Housing Assistance

Harold Jones Has A New Home

Homeless Baldwin County veteran gets housing assistance from two, non-profit agencies.

When we first met Harold Jones two months ago, he was living in a van.

Harold, who was an Army private in the early 1960's, says he lost his military credentials in a house fire.

Unable to prove he's a veteran, Harold says the government couldn't give him V-A assistance.

But thanks to Ecumenical Ministries in Fairhope, and Housing First in Mobile, Harold is now living in a furnished apartment, utilities included, for 150 bucks a month.

Both Ecumenical Ministries and Housing First provide assistance to local veterans.

Harold is sleeping in a real bed for the first time in months...he says it feels great!

Harold is grateful for the help and is returning the favor. He's volunteering at both non-profit agencies, hoping to give a little back.
