A Daphne woman and her nine year old told a terrifying story of the boy being attacked by two pit bulls.

George Burks says the dogs attacked him right after he got off a school bus in Lake Forest.

The two pit bulls are being quarantined at the Daphne Animal Shelter.

Shelter officials still can't find their owner.

George Burks said he was was getting off a school bus on Windsor Drive when the two pit bulls charged him.

Burks said, "They started attacking. They didn't even go back when I swung."

Burks' mother, Tara, described how her son told her the pit bulls "attacked him from behind, got his backpack, ripped at it off of him. While they were doing that, he was screaming. The neighbor across the street came and scared the dogs off."

Tara Burks said the dogs came from the backyard of a home.

George Burks said, "I was really frightened. I didn't want to step near that house."

In fact, Burks said she went to the house afterwards, carrying a bat to see what was going on, and, the dogs attacked her.

Tara Burks said, "They grabbed at the bat. One of them, the white dog, had it in his jaw, and I was wrestling with (it), screaming the entire time: help me, help me, help me."

Burks called police, and they called animal control.

When asked what about dogs demeanor, Rhonda Jones with the animal shelter described them as "vicious."

Jones said, "They're not sweet dogs."

Tara Burks said, "Until I saw personally what could happen, you can't imagine, the hopelessness of just standing there in front of two dogs like that.  I can't even explain it."

A court date is set in the case for a week from Tuesday, but the owner still hasn't been found.
