The committee passed a revised congressional redistricting plan Thursday after getting public reaction to the initial plan it approved Wednesday. The new plan is largely like one favored by Alabama's congressional delegation in the southern half of the state. Unlike the committee's first plan, it keeps Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery and Fort Rucker in Ozark in Republican Martha Roby's 2nd District.
It differs from a plan favored by the congressional delegation because it splits Lauderdale and Colbert counties between Republican Rep. Mo Brook's 5th District and Republican Robert Aderholt's 4th District.
The plan now goes to the full Legislature.
