Arriving by boat, former capital murder suspect Eric Buzbee met us at his grandparent's fishing camp in Spanish Fort. Buzbee, who spent nearly two years behind bars before he was found not guilty in the capital murder of Bobby Wilson, says he still can't shake the label of "accused murderer."
"There are still people around here that think I did it," says Buzbee. "16 jury members were all on my side. I just take it one day at a time, that's all I can do."
Buzbee says he's glad Baldwin County District Attorney Hallie Dixon has decided to take another look at the unsolved capital murder case.
"I'm all for it," says Buzbee. "Anything I can do to help, I'm there for here. I hate it for Miss Wilson to have to go through it again, I really feel sorry for her, I really do. They should have been looking at other people from day one when I told them I didn't do it, when they had no evidence. Not one shred of evidence, they should have been looking at somebody else."
Buzbee is currently unemployed, taking odd jobs here and there. He says because of the capital murder charge, most employers won't hire him.
Bobby Wilson was beaten and robbed inside his Spanish Fort gas station in 2007. He died several months later. Buzbee was charged in Wilson's death, but after two mistrials, he was acquitted in October, 2009.
